Who consults Ms. Wexler?
Divorce attorneys or mediators, employment attorneys and others involved in legal matters when questions arise about a person's employment and earnings capabilities.
During divorce, why consult an employability expert?
Questions often arise about a spouse's ability to obtain the highest level of employment and earning capacity. An objective employability evaluation is used by both parties and the court to determine a spouse's ability to contribute to maintenance (alimony) and child support. This moves the divorce forward so both parties can move on. Employability evaluations occur during a divorce or after (such as a request for a change in the amount of maintenance and/or child support).
When do employment attorneys consult Ms. Wexler?
During employment litigation, both plaintiff and defendant need to determine loss in earnings and benefits and the impact of the job loss on future employability and earnings. Ms. Wexler evaluates these factors and is often asked to assess the plaintiff's job search efforts to obtain comparable employment and/or efforts to mitigate damages. She provides evaluation services to both defendants and plaintiffs.
As an employability expert, she has made numerous presentations about employment, the job search and career transitions, and was a featured panelist and speaker at the Westchester County Bar Association Family Law CLE and the New York County Lawyers Association. Ms. Wexler's articles have appeared in various publications including the New York Law Journal and the New York State Bar Association Family Law Review.
